bittersweet memories

And I close my eyes
trying to imagine
life without you
it's not too easy
yet not too hard
it's just so full of agony

And then I open my eyes
to see the world around
reality sinking right
through me
I wonder why i've never
thought of cherishing more

Oh, if only time
can stop and turn around
and walk me down
the path of my mistakes
footprints carved into the
sand erasing all of them

Yet now it's all too late
my mourning and grief
cannot mend the scars
and ironically, the only
cure is time...
soon all will be washed away

Hopefully I step ahead
I'm scared of regret
to this big first step
but i'm left with no
choice but to bury
those memories, within me

Deep down, they'll stay
and never rise again
because i don't ever
want to experience
the same misery and pain
never, ever again...
